This temple of Kerala has 20,000 gold lockets, RTI reveals treasure worth crores

Guruvaur Sree Krishna Temple: There are many big and ancient temples in South India, where there is a large amount of gold-jewellery. The famous Guruvayur Sree Krishna temple in Kerala’s Thrissur (THRISSUR) district, which recently disclosed bank deposits of over Rs 1,700 crore, has admitted that they have over 260 kg of gold in stock.

In response to an RTI, temple officials said it has 263.637 kg of gold with precious stones and coins, and about 20,000 gold lockets. Please tell that earlier the management of the temple had refused to give details due to security reasons. RTI documents provided after an appeal revealed that the temple has 6,605 kg of silver, 19,981 gold lockets and 5,359 silver lockets. 

However, the RTI has not disclosed the total value of gold and silver. In December last year, RTI also revealed that the temple has bank deposits of Rs 1,737.04 crore and 271.05 acres of land, the value of which is yet to be assessed.

Guruvayur Temple, is centuries old. Lord Vishnu is worshiped here in the form of Shri Krishna, every year thousands of people from all over the country come to visit this place.
