‘…Pakistan wanted to launch nuclear attack on India after surgical strike’, claims Mike Pompeo

Mike Pompeo On India-Pakistan: Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has made a claim regarding Pakistan. According to news agency PTI, he said that after India’s surgical strike in Balakot in February 2019, Pakistan was preparing for a nuclear attack on India.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in his book ‘Never Give an Inch: Fighting for the America I Love’ I told that this information about the nuclear attack was given to him by the then External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj. He told that when this incident happened on 27-28 February in 2019, he had gone to Hanoi for the US-North Korea summit. After this his team talked to New Delhi and Islamabad.

‘The world would know’

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that I do not think the world would know how close the war between India and Pakistan had come to a nuclear attack. He said that the truth is that even I do not know the answer to this. Let us tell you that in February 2019, 40 soldiers were martyred in the terrorist attack in Pulwama. India did Balakot surgical strike to avenge this.

What did Pakistan say?

Mike Pompeo said he will never forget that night when he was in Hanoi, Vietnam. He told that I spoke to Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa regarding Pakistan’s nuclear attack. Pompeo told him what India had said, but Bajwa said it was wrong. However, nothing has been said by the Ministry of External Affairs on Pompeo’s claim. Mike Pompeo claimed that no country could do what we did.
