Magh Mela 2023: On the last day i.e. Saturday, 1.5 crore devotees took a dip in Ganga and Sangam on the third bathing festival of Magh Mela ‘Mauni Amavasya’. During this, the mela administration showered flowers from the helicopter on the devotees and saints and sages.
Due to the great combination of Mauni Amavasya and Shani Amavasya, devotees started attending the fair in large numbers from Friday itself. From 12 midnight on Friday to 12 noon on Saturday, about 1.5 crore devotees took a holy dip in Ganga and Sangam. This information has been given by the Divisional Commissioner of Prayagraj, Vijay Vishwas Pant.
According to the news agency PTI report, SSP (Magh Mela) Rajeev Narayan Mishra said that more than 5 thousand staff were deployed for the security of the fair. These include civil police, mounted police, women police, LIU team, officers of Intelligence Department, staff of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Water Police etc.
According to Rajeev Mishra, arrangements have also been made for floating police post and river ambulance in the fair. People are being monitored with the help of CCTV cameras, drone cameras and body-mounted cameras.
This time bathing in the Ganges was particularly fruitful
Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya also took bath in Sangam on Saturday morning. Tell that it is believed that on Mauni Amavasya in Prayagraj, the sins of the mind are destroyed by taking a dip in Sangam by keeping silence. This time Shani Amavasya was the great yoga on Mauni Amavasya, due to which bathing in Ganga was particularly fruitful.
The next bath of Magh Mela will be held on Basant Panchami on 26 January i.e. Republic Day. After this, there will be Maghi Purnima on 5th February and Mahashivaratri on 18th February. After this the Magh Mela will end.
