Hockey World Cup: These 4 teams got entry in quarterfinals, crossover matches will be held for remaining spots

Hockey WC Crossover Matches: Pool stage matches are over in the ongoing 15th Hockey World Cup in Odisha. The top four teams in the four pools have got a place in the quarterfinals directly. Now crossover matches will be played between eight teams for the remaining four spots of the quarterfinals. These crossover matches begin today.

There were 16 teams in four pools in this World Cup. The winning team of each pool advanced directly to the quarterfinals. At the same time, the second and third number teams will be able to reach the quarter-finals under the crossover matches. The teams of Australia, Belgium, Netherlands and England finished first in their respective pools. In such a situation, these four teams have reached the quarterfinals. Here’s who’s up against whom in the crossover bouts…

  • 1st crossover match: Malaysia vs Spain (January 22, 4.30 pm, Kalinga Stadium Bhubaneswar)
  • 2nd crossover match: India vs. New Zealand (January 22, 7 PM, Kalinga Stadium Bhubaneswar)
  • 3rd crossover match: Germany vs France (January 23, 4.30 PM, Kalinga Stadium Bhubaneswar)
  • 4th crossover match: Argentina vs South Korea (January 23, 7 pm, Kalinga Stadium Bhubaneswar)

The winner of the first crossover match will take on Australia in the quarterfinal matches. The winner of the second crossover match will face Belgium. Similarly, the winning team of the third crossover match will face the Netherlands and the winning team of the fourth crossover match will face England. The losers of these crossover matches will play for the 9th to 12th places.
