DC Ramnivas of Sahibganj reached ED’s zonal office in Ranchi, questioned in money laundering case

Jharkhand Latest News:  In the case of money laundering of one thousand crore rupees through illegal mining and business of stones, ED has started questioning Sahibganj district Deputy Commissioner Ramniwas Yadav on Monday. He reached the ED’s zonal office at Airport Road in Ranchi at around 11.30 am. Ramniwas Yadav is the second officer of the Indian Administrative Service, whom the ED is questioning in the Jharkhand mining scam. After interrogating senior IAS Pooja Singhal in this case, the ED filed a charge sheet against her.

ED has also told in its charge sheet that during the tenure of present Deputy Commissioner Ramniwas Yadav in Sahibganj, illegal stone mining has taken place on a large scale. Ramnivas Niwas is posted on this post from October 2020. According to the Jharkhand Minor Minerals Avoidance Rules 2004 and Jharkhand Minerals (Prevention of Illegal Mining, Transportation and Storage) Rules 2017, the overall responsibility for the management of minerals rests with the DC. The DC is also the head of the district level task force against illegal mining.

Let us tell you that on November 18 last year, CM Hemant Soren had said in the inquiry conducted by ED in this matter that he never stopped any DC-SP to curb illegal mining. The ED has also gathered evidence that Pankaj Mishra, the kingpin of the mining scam, spoke to Sahibganj’s DC Ramniwas Yadav and SP Anuranjan Kispotta on phone calls even while being in judicial custody (jail). He used to talk to officers for work like contract-lease, tender, transfer-posting.

ED has also extracted CDRs of those numbers from which he used to call these officers. According to sources, according to the information gathered by the ED, Pankaj was in constant contact with a total of 11 IAS-IPS. Preparations are on to send summons to some of these officers.

It is being told that in March 2022, the ED will also question the DC of Sahibganj regarding the case of a ship overturned in the river Ganga in Sahibganj. There were several trucks carrying stone chips illegally on this ship. In that case, DC Ramniwas Yadav submitted the report to the then Dumka commissioner Chandramohan Kashyap. Finding many flaws in the report, the commissioner again sought a report from the DC. Then Pankaj Mishra had called up the commissioner and said that the entire work of transporting through the ship is his only, so the report sent by the DC should be accepted without any hesitation.
