The country is celebrating 74th Republic Day today. For the first time there will be a parade on the duty path, whose salute will be taken by President Draupadi Murmu. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is the chief guest of the event.
The parade will go from Vijay Chowk to Red Fort. The parade will start at 10.30 am, which will last for about 90 minutes. The ceremony will begin with a tribute at the National War Memorial.
All the three armies of India will show their strength in the parade. There will be 8 marching contingents of the Indian Armed Forces in the parade, in which there will be 6 contingents of the Army, 1-1 contingent of the Air Force and the Navy.
Apart from this, a joint band and marching squad of the Egyptian Army will also be included. 45 aircraft of the Air Force will also show might. This time, apart from the army, tableaux of DRDO and ex-servicemen will also be included in the parade.
There will also be 17 tableaux of states and union territories. The theme of most of the tableaux is women power. Strict security arrangements have been made in Delhi today.
