In Chhattisgarh’s Bastar, the administration is proving miserably unsuccessful in taking the central government’s plan to the ground level. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, one of the ambitious plans of the Central Government to stop feticide along with other schemes of the Centre, seems to be dying in Bastar. Under this scheme, the administration is proving unsuccessful in reaching the benefits to the daughters. This is the condition of all the 7 districts of Bastar division. Here the number of daughters who were supposed to get benefits under this scheme could not get it.
Daughters are bereft of benefits
28 thousand daughters were born in the last 3 years in Bastar district itself, but only 5 thousand accounts have been opened under this scheme. However, officials of the Women and Child Development Department are blaming the Anganwadi workers for this negligence. While the truth is that no senior officer of the administration took this plan into his cognizance. Therefore, the tribal mothers here are not getting the benefit of this scheme in Bastar division for the bright future of their daughters.
Negligence on the part of the department
Actually, the central government had started the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana to stop female feticide and to remove the concern of child marriage and education. Under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, this scheme has been implemented to save the future of girls below the age of 10 years from financial crisis. Under this scheme, interest is provided to the account holders at the rate of 7.6% on the deposited amount, which is tax free, but the benefit of this scheme is not reaching the beneficiaries of Bastar.
Due to the lack of wide publicity of this scheme being run by the Central Government, in the last 3 years only accounts of 5 thousand daughters have been opened in Bastar district, while 28 thousand daughters have given birth in these three years. had taken.
To give the benefit of this scheme to more and more daughters, a target is given to the officers of the Women and Child Development Department and the Anganwadi workers, in which they contact the people and open accounts in the bank or post office in the name of their daughters. , But great negligence of Anganwadi workers is coming to the fore in this work. For this reason, even 20 percent of the target has not been completed in the last 3 years.
Women and Child Development Department accepted the mistake
Actually, under this scheme, parents of girls can deposit money in their daughter’s account according to their income. According to the Women and Child Development Department, for this scheme, annual account holders can deposit an amount ranging from Rs 250 to more than Rs 5000 in their account. Along with non-publicity of this scheme, people are not able to take advantage of this scheme for the bright future of their daughters due to the slow attitude of the post office.
